Wenzel Family,

My name is Christopher Keene. I worked with Gregg, here in Washington DC, and actually had the opportunity to have Gregg as a roommate when he first moved into the area. I first wanted to pass on my sincerest condolences and also an apology for missing Gregg's funeral.

I now work for the Department of Homeland Security and I serve in the National Guard and unfortunately was on active duty with the Guard when you had the services for Gregg. It was good to hear that Tracie, Tom, Mick and some others were able to make it. I just want you to know that I was there in spirit.

I am going to write a letter specifically for your website but after seeing it today, I just had to drop you a note and tell you how happy I am to see Gregg's spirit is still strong. Although Gregg and I were friends for not quite two years, he was by far the most amazing person I have ever known. I can go on for hours with stories of what we did and how much fun we had but words would never do your son justice.

Just know that my life will be forever richer for having known Gregg. He was an incredible flame of spirit in all the lives he touched and the world is a little poorer for having that flame extinguished. In many ways, I loved Gregg like a brother and will always have a little piece of my soul missing. He was kind, funny, intelligent but most importantly he had the deepest strength of will I have ever seen in another person. I just hope that I can keep a piece of that strength in my own life in his memory.

I will begin working on a letter that will hopefully do justice to our friendship but until then I hope you all have the best possible holiday season and I hope to see you all in person sometime in the next year.

With warmest regards,

Chris Keene
